Labor & Human Rights
In August 2019, a 56-year-old engineer died on one of Iterrybflot’s vessels.
In August 2021 a mechanic died of a heart attack on one of Interrybflot’s vessels, according to the Prime Territory Trade Union Federation.
On employer review forums, there are complaints about payment delays, ‘shady’ work agreements, withholding of wages, poor working conditions on vessels. In 2023, one reviewer, Alexandr Motoris, wrote: “They talk the talk, and then cheat people out of various amounts. Don’t work for them. The supplies are bad, the food is bad, the ships are all old and rotten, dark, dirt and inhuman. The staff turnover is constant, they grab everyone, regardless of experience and knowledge. After working on their sip, I needed the help of a psychologist and gastroenterologist. There is an old man working there now, he already had a second heart attack there, these are the kind of people they recruit, who have bought medical commissions.”.

Reporting

Interrybflot is a private company established in 1998 after the merger of several fishing companies in Primorye Territory.1 It owns six fishing vessels.2 At least one vessel, Antur, is involved in fishmeal production, though it is not listed on their website.3 Interrybflot, Fish Processing Plant Ostrovnoy, Polaris, and seven other companies are part of the Dalnevostochny Rybak group.4

Interrybflot was liquidated in August 2024.9

Antur (Factory ship): On December 13, 2021, four people sustained injuries during a fire on the fishing trawler while it was moored in Vladivostok.10 The fire broke out in the vessel’s compartment during welding work.11 An investigation showed that the fire was caused by a violation of fire safety regulations.12 Several people who worked on Antur complained about the captain’s cruelty and bad food.13 “Only a small portion of the promised money is transferred to the card,” said a 2024 review. “At the slightest conflict with the captain or the office, or if one needs to write off from the vessel earlier than six months, you are automatically left without money.”14
