In 2024, Smartik.ru, a Russian local news and social‑media aggregation site, reported the death of a 55-year-old foreman who worked for Vostrokrybprom.1
Vladimir Limanov (Factory ship): “The experience was marred by constant fines, absurd disciplinary reports, and restrictive policies,” wrote one worker on this ship in August 2021.2 On October 4, 2021, a fisher got his leg caught between two conveyor belts in the freezer hold of the vessel, according to a press release by state labor officials in Khabarovsk Territory, bordering the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan.3
Bazhenovsk (Factory ship): “The wifi connection is only for commanding officers,” said a former worker on the Bazhenovsk in an online comment in May 2019. “There is a ship satellite phone for everyone. And so it depends on what kind of commander you get, last summer there was wifi, in the winter it was closed.”4
Geroi Shironintsy (Factory ship): In the span of two weeks in March 2020, two crew members died on the Geroi Shironintsy from cardiovascular disease.5 On March 26, 2025, a user named Dmitry wrote online that the managers of the Geroi Shironintsy did not pay the crew all of their wages.6
