- On November 22, 2024, and December 2, 2024, 60-day notices of intent to sue for violation of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 were addressed to, among others, the current president/CEO of Universal Canning in Zamboanga City for “Violations of Proposition 65 Concerning Seafood Products Containing Cadmium and Cadmium Compounds” from the California-based Consumer Advocacy Group. The notices alleged that Universal Canning Inc. and the other named parties were in violation by making said sardines available for purchase.
