- The Hua Li 8 is suspected of illegal, unreported, or unregulated fishing in Argentinian waters between 2010 and 2022. It is on the Argentinian government's list of vessels engaging in illegal fishing after Argentinian authorities captured the vessel on February 29, 2016.
- Chinese fishery authorities deducted annual fuel subsidies from the Hua Li 8 for violating the SPRFMOregulations in 2017 regarding illegal at-sea transshipments to unregistered transport ships, and the captain was penalized.
- AIS Darkness
- Since March 2018, the Hua Li 8 has disabled its AISfor at least 2,518 hours (104 days). These instances ofAISdarkness occurred across the Argentine Sea.
