- Labor & Human Rights
- In 2021, one Indonesian deckhand fell down the stairs while working on the Lu Rong Yuan Yu 978 and broke his back. He went back to work pulling nets immediately after the fall, then fainted and woke up in bed surrounded by Indonesian crew members. Sadad’s friends helped him to eat and bathe when they could, but his condition continued to worsen, leaving him speechless and disoriented, lying in a pool of his own urine. The captain refused to take him to shore. In August 2021, the captain dropped Sadad off in Montevideo, and he spent ten days in the hospital, before being flown home.
- The Lu Rong Yuan Yu 978 disembarked the bodies of crew members in Montevideo, Uruguay, on two occasions: December 22, 2016, and July 15, 2020.
